TRANSPALOCK SECURITY TURNSTILE PART I -
GENERAL 1.01
SECTION INCLUDES A.
This section covers the furnishing and installation of a complete
Automatic Security Turnstile. Provide complete system that has been
fabricated, assembled, and tested for proper operation at the factory. It
includes railings, door wings, glass, motor drive system and security
system as required for installation. 1.02

QUALITY ASSURANCE A.
Manufacturer shall be a company specializing in the supply of
automatic security turnstiles with a minimum of 5 years experience. B.
Installer shall supply a factory-trained supervisor during
installation of the door. 1.04
SUBMITTALS A.
Submit project specific shop drawings, finish samples and Operating
& Maintenance Manuals in accordance with Section (
). B.
Indicate pertinent dimensions, general construction, component
connections and locations, anchorage methods and locations, hardware, and
installation details. 1.05
DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING A.
Deliver materials to job site in manufacturer's packaging
undamaged, complete with installation instructions. B.
Store off ground, under cover, protected from weather and
construction activities. 1.06
PROJECT/SITE CONDITIONS A.
Turnstiles install on finished floor. Floor must be level. 1.07
WARRANTY Boon
Edam warranties its products against defects in material and workmanship
for a period of one (1) year from the date of substantial completion. This
warranty excludes glass breakage, normal wear on finishes or damage that
occurs due to abuse, misuse or acts of God. PART

CONSTRUCTION A.
Frame: Shall be manufactured from 4Omm brushed stainless
steel tubes curved to a 5'-0" diameter and 1/4" curved tempered
glass connected to the tubes with brushed stainless steel connectors. B.
Door Wings: Three door wings manufactured of 1/4"
tempered safety glass. C.
Center Shaft: Steel framework containing all of the
controls. Center shaft is clad with brushed stainless steel sheet. 2.03
EQUIPMENT A.
Drive System:
Electromechanical drive system specially designed for the Transpalock
mounted inside the center column together with all of the controls. The
drive system is bi-directional, allowing two-way traffic (not
simultaneously). In case of power failure, the doorset can be operated
manually. (Requires a 208-230V, 10 A service from below finished floor). B.
Locking Device: Electromagnetic locking device linked
directly to the center shaft, capable of stopping the doorset at any
position. The locking device is activated in the rest position by a card
reader or remote push button. The Tourlock locking device unlocks in the
case of a power failure. C.
Controls: Microprocessor-based electronics utilizing a
800-step Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) with the following
characteristics:

SECURITY EQUIPMENT A.
Actuation: Door actuation by external card reader, biometric
reader, key pad or remote push button. Although tied into the Circelock,
actuation devices are not by Boon Edam. 2.05
MATERIALS A.
Tempered Glass: All glass shall be 1/4" clear tempered
safety glass. PART
III - EXECUTION 3.01
INSTALLATION A.
Inspection: Installer must examine the location and advise
the Contractor of any site conditions unacceptable for proper installation
of product. B.
Erection: Install turnstiles in accordance with
manufacturer's printed instructions. Set units level, plumb, and with
uniform hairline joints. Anchor securely into place. Use only
factory-trained installers. C.
Adjustment: Installer shall adjust door and hardware for
smooth operation and proper performance. D.
Instruction: A factory trained installer shall demonstrate
to the owner's maintenance crew the proper operation of the door and the
necessary service requirements such as lubrication, cleaning, and
inspection of components. E.
Cleaning: Clean metal and glass surfaces carefully after
installation to remove excess caulk, dirt and labels. Boon
